Marble adds a timeless look to wide variety of kitchen styles, both traditional and contemporary, but is costlier than other surfaces and should be wiped down often to avoid etching and staining.

Select a more matte, less shiny finish where possible to hide scratches and make etching less noticeable, as well as making maintenance easier. This part will then take less time.

Calacatta

Calacatta marble is one of the most wanted and fascinating looking natural stones on the market, due to its strong veining, thick ivory white background and luxury appearance. It is commonly used in multiple finishes as high-end kitchen countertops and backsplashes. The simplicity, extremeness and unique colour of this natural stone give a classy and refined touch to any residential and commercial project. Coordinated with all styles, it perfects even the most stunning master bathrooms, thanks to its exceptional durability and timeless design.

Nothing screams classic like Italian marble, with its offset white to gray tones, which will not only add value and style to your home, but will also impress your guests with your exquisite taste, in either honed or polished finish.

Calacatta marble, again like Statuary and Carrara marbles, is a bit more porous than other counter material and needs a little more maintenance overall: Keep it clean with a mild, pH neutral cleaner; dry up spills as soon as they happen; put coasters/placemats under objects, and have your countertop re-sealed regularly to give this indulgent surface the best care – and to help preserve the beauty of this majestic stone for years.

Carrara

Carrara marble is known for its classical beauty that’s big on versatility: not just easy on the eyes but also on the wallet. Light grey veining in Carrara, complete with patches of gold in the stone, make it an ideal choice when dressing up kitchens and bathrooms that are fed by plumbing pipes.

Some Carrara marble is warmed by slightly beige or tan undertones; with others, it’s a pleasing surprise to discover blue or green undertones that add visual interest and become stunning focal points in their larger design scheme.

Though often used as the de facto kitchen island and countertop, marble must be carefully tended, or it will stain and etch in ways that can rival the appearance and characteristics of such easy-to-clean options as granite. To ensure its prolonged beauty, marble should be regularly wiped down with a pH neutral cleaner and spills should be cleaned up immediately.

Statuario

Statuario marble (Claro from Portugal can also be considered, but having a more economical appearance and abundance) is the most luxurious of white marbles, as it’s rarer while having more elegant aesthetics. It is common in 5 star hotels, as well as in luxury smaller projects.

This marble works well with warm and cool colours, making it a timeless backdrop for both modern, contemporary and traditional cabinets and countertops. And of course you can use the veining to create beautiful book-matched backsplashes or walls.

Statuario marble is less subject to wear than Calacatta and Carrara varieties because of its more dense chemical composition and lower degree of porosity but it still succumbs to etching and staining. Because of this inherent porosity, Statuario is best paired with regular sealing and maintenance.

Crema Marfil

This type of marble is probably the most popular choice to be used as kitchen worktops and for bathroom cladding as it comes in a lovely pale stone with tan veining and it suits both traditional and modern interior decorating.

Crema marfil is a metamorphic stone in the group of limestone. It is available in more than one finish, one being honed and the other being polished. Crea marfil is perfect for classic and modern spaces and any colour scheme.

Mohs scale of hardness puts Crema Marfil fairly low on the range, but it still comes with the risk of accidental breaks and cracking. Fabricators and stone trade pros recommend the use of clamp lifters for large slabs of Spanish marble like Crema Marfil.

Crema Marfil natural stone is available in various different grades to suit all spending levels, with higher grades being more uniform in background colouring and differences in veining. For the best appearance, simply apply quality sealer on a regular basis to Crema Marfil worktops.
